We learned all about Recycling for Recycle week this week. We have learned what materials we can recycle such as, paper, glass and cardboard. We also learned about contamination and why it's important to clean and separate our waste before we recycle it. We had lots of fun working with Beech Class (6th class) children to make Junk Art Robots from recyclable materials.
The Student Council are launch their first school event. Wear your pyjamas to school this Friday and contribute €2 to fundraise for a school defibrillator.
We celebrated Peace Day today with a beautiful performance of our song 'I am a Peaceful Star'. We really enjoyed our first performance of Junior infants.
Last week Chestnut class prepared posters to run for the different teams in our school. These are the Green Schools team, the Student Council and the Forest and Garden School. All children were given an opportunity to tell their class why they should vote for them. Class members all cast their vote in a secret ballot to chose who they wanted to represent Chestnut class on the different teams. Everyone did an amazing job at designing their posters and giving their speeches. Our class representatives for this year are
Darren & Aireen
Oskar & Alannah
Forest & Garden School
Emily & Alex
We have been practicing sorting items in Chestnut class. We have being sorting items according to their colour and their properties.

Chestnut class had a great first week in Junior infants. We played with lego, jigsaws and lots of other cool new toys. We got to know our new friends names and we sang some lovely nursery rhymes. Humpty Dumpty was our favourite. We also got to go out to the yard for the first time and have play games with our friends.
