It's that time of year again when we celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity of our school community. The children are all hard at work researching and exploring countries and cultures around the world. So we are all very excited to invite you along to see their work on Thursday 24th May!
This week is scoot to school week. National SOW Day (Scoot on Wednesdays) will be held on Wednesday 14th March. By participating in National Scoot to School Week / SOW Day you will be showing your support for a greener, healthier environment.
Please scoot to school this Wednesday and we may be in with a chance to win scooter parking for our school.
The student council presented the new defibrillator to the school today. Click on the link below to check out the pictures.
A chairde! Parents, Guardians and friends!
This week we will be celebrating Irish language and culture as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. We will be busy learning Irish songs and dances, playing games through Irish, reading and writing stories, listening to Irish music and promoting the Irish language throughout the school.
We would like to invite you to join in the fun next Friday 16th March.
· Join us between 8:30 and 9a.m. for an Irish breakfast in the school hall. Some of our students will be serving Irish tea, scones, brown bread and other baked goods for parents to enjoy! They will be helping parents to learn some Irish phrases so that you can have chat ‘as Gaeilge’ while you sip your tea!
· Classes will be performing some Irish songs, poems and dances for parents in the hall between 9 and 10a.m.
Please come and celebrate with us! Bígí ann!
We would be delighted if anyone would like to contribute baked goods for our Irish Breakfast morning. Some ideas of Irish foods include:
· Soda bread or brown bread
· Barmbrack or fruit bread
· Potato cakes
· Oat cakes
· Apple cake
· Spreads: blackberry jam, apple jelly or Irish butter

We can't wait to see your creative photos!

Next week at Powerstown we will be celebrating Heritage week. We will explore the heritage and history of our local area as well as examining some historical artefacts in our pop-up museum. There are plenty of opportunities for parents/grandparents to get involved in heritage week. We would love some visitors to do show and tell or to participate in Grandparents day. Have a look below and let me know if you would like to get involved. You can email me on ClassDojo or at Anita@powerstownet.com
